2023 01 06 – Calgary
Today was a good day. We drove out bright and early to hike the Pennstock Loop in Kananaskis (“K-country”).
The sun rises late (8:25AM) at this latitude these days, but it does mean that you don’t have to get up too early to catch a crazy-looking sunset.
We’ve both been really busy lately, and haven’t had much time to spend together. So I asked Jonny to plan a hike date, and asked him to “make it romantic”. (Sorry.)
We felt pretty extra setting up this charcuterie board at the Peter Lougheed Discovery Centre, but no regrets.
We’re both pretty colour coordinated (with ourselves).

We drove home and napped, then went out for Calan beef noodle. Mostly Lanzhou style hand-pulled noodles, but we both got a red-braised beef noodle soup (紅燒牛肉麵) that held up pretty well to Taiwanese standards.
Also, they served this tea pretty common in Lanzhou called 三炮台. It’s light and sweet – it has ice sugar, chrysanthemum, goji berries, dried roses, and other fun stuff in there.
All in all – a pretty good day.
